Laboratory Testing

Depending on your health concerns, there may be times when laboratory diagnosis is very helpful in the course of treatment. The following state of the art lab tests are available through my office and may be recommended when it seems appropriate to include laboratory results with traditional Chinese medical diagnostics. The information received from such tests assists me in clinical accuracy when prescribing herbs, as well as dietary and nutritional treatment. Detoxification, nutritional and herbal programs are tailored to each individual case, as needed. The following laboratory fees first indicate the list prices of tests, followed by the reduced rates for my patients.

Toxic Element Exposure Profile: A hair analysis measuring exposure to 20 toxic elements that represent pervasive environmental health risks. Test results include commentary indicating possible sources of exposure, as well as symptoms and conditions associated with high levels of toxic compounds. $128 $78.00

Intestinal Permeability Test: A urine test which measure the integrity of the intestinal lining. An excessively permeable GI tract puts a toxic load on the body and may be involved with a number of disease processes including autoimmunity. Malabsorption may indicate inflammatory and other disorders. $86 $86.00

Comprehensive Parasitology: A stool test using technology not found in most labs, which measures even the most obscure parasites. Also measures pathogenic bacteria, yeast, and assesses intestinal ecology. Most labs do not scan for this range of parasites, fungal, or bacterial pathogens. $215 $162

Salivary Hormone Profiles: The value of using saliva for hormone testing is that it is non-invasive and extremely useful in order to observe patterns of cycling. For example, the adrenal stress index demonstrates the 24 hour circadian rhythm of adrenal hormones, which can expose a malfunctioning stress response. The female hormone profile demonstrates cycling patterns involving estrogen and progesterone. Other hormone profiles include male androgens, and female menopausal. Variable cost

Food Sensitivity Testing: A relatively inexpensive way to assess IgG mediated food allergies involves finger prick testing rather than a blood draw. Such sensitivities are very common and the symptoms are often delayed, beginning many hours after exposure and lasting for days or weeks. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian tests are available, as well as spice, herb and inhalant panels. $95-$275 $95-$176 (varies with test)

Neurotransmitter Profile: A urine test measuring 20 different neurotransmitters in order to provide accurate guidance for the administration of targeted amino acid therapy.
